Chicken update

Well, we suspected all along that Dusty was a rooster. This morning, when he started crowing, there was no more doubt. Here's Dusty -- the gray one in the middle -- when he was a baby.

I can't believe they were ever this small. No wonder we worried about a hawk getting them.

They used to like to flop down on the ground and soak up the sun. They still do that every now and then.

Now they look like this. Those are the hens in the foreground. I think Rowdy (the red hen) is a rare heritage breed known as a Buckeye. I think King (the white hen) is a Delaware.

Note Rowdy's pea comb. (I *think* that's a pea comb.)

Here's our rooster. To me, Dusty looks like a male cross between Rowdy and King. He's a beautiful bird, and I hope we can find a good home for him.

Valentine's Day violin performance

Lucie's violin group performed at the mall on the day before Valentine's Day. It was a beautiful happening in an improbable place.
