Upstairs

We need to get used to saying "the upstairs" instead of "the attic." Here's a brief tour:

Milo is really walking now. By popular demand, here is video evidence.

Dear Mom

"Dear Mom. I love you. You are special. And you are great. I love you lots. You are brilliant, Mommy. I love you. You are brilliant. But I want you to stop talking about the attic. But I still love you. Love, Lucie. For Mommy."

Milo's first haircut

We decided that it was time to give the boy a haircut. Not that it was an influencing factor, but people have been thinking that he is a girl. This even though all of his clothes have dogs or trucks on them. We figured it must be the hair.

Chris got out the barber tools.

Milo eventually got a little impatient.

A cookie made the wait much easier.

Four little pumpkins

Here's a picture of four pumpkins in a pumpkin patch. According to Lu, "The first one listened to too much jazz, the second one is too hot, the third one is rotten, and the fourth one froze."

Lucie's day home with Daddy

Lucie and Daddy had the day off for Veteran's Day. It was also Daddy's birthday. They celebrated with lunch at Foster's.

"When is our food going to get here?"

"Look how big this grape is!"

Daddy also took Lucie to a play date at her friend Lucy's house. Here they are showing off their matching tattoos. (They read, "Let Freedom Ring - Vote!")

Halloween

This year, while Dad and Milo handed out candy, Lucie and Mom went to HallowEno, a celebration sponsored by Durham Parks and Rec at the West Point on the Eno park. We saw the Young People's Performing Company perform a ghost story play in the old blacksmith's shop, ascended a luminary path through a spooky forest, and heard songs and ghost stories around a camp fire (led by one of Lucie's counselors from Otter Camp). It was really fun and amazing, but not the same as trick or treating around one's own neighborhood. Next year we're going to stay home and do that, and try to convince our neighbors to do the same.

Lucie's witch costume

Lucie got her face painted at the old mill.

Here are some ghosts (or rather, a princess, a fairy, a pirate, a jack o' lantern, and some other spooks) of Halloween past:

Trip to the mountains

We had a great visit with family in Black Mountain and Asheville. (Thank you! We love you and hope to see you again soon.)

Milo's friends

Milo received his first birthday party invitation, from his friend Carl. He had a lot of fun at the party.

That's the birthday boy in blue.

Milo made quick work of his pizza slice.

State Fair

We almost didn't go to the State Fair this year. Last year Milo was really too small, and the fair was so crowded, and we were so tired, that it wasn't that much fun at all. Luckily, Lucie persuaded us to go, because this year, we had a great time. (Except for parking, which was a total nightmare. Ask Chris to tell you that story.) More photos are in the Boo Annex.

Lucie rode a pony.

This was the first time we remembered to bring the wagon to the fair. It rocked!

Lucie and I had fun on the ferris wheel.

The weather was perfect.

We let Milo eat some maple sugar cotton candy.

Lucie enjoyed playing airplane with this girl.

We're already looking forward to next year's fair. However, we have already determined that we will NOT be driving.
